Irene Pigman, 87 years, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in the emergency room at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Irene was born November 18, 1921 in Defiance, Ohio the daughter of Paul and Mary (Nemett) Gerencser. She married Paul Nyari and that marriage ended in divorce. She then married Charles R. Pigman in 1957 and he preceded her in death on March 25, 1982. Irene worked in retail sales for several area vendors. She retired from Meijer Stellhorn store in 2005, where she had worked in the deli.
Surviving is her daughter, Deborah P. Martin of Fort Wayne; granddaughter, Irene E. Martin of fort Wayne; brother, Paul Gerencser of Hicksville, Ohio; two sisters, Helen Daugherty of Bryan, Ohio and Mary (Bill) Babinger of Farmer, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Robert Gerencser.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009 in Sherwood Cemetery with Pastor David Proctor, officiating. There will be no visitation. Professional services are being handled by the Greenisen Chapel of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home 225 East High Street Bryan, Ohio.
Memorials in the name of Irene Pigman may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation of the donor's choosing. |
