Norma Patten, 89 years, of Bryan, passed away at 10:15 a.m., Sunday, December 18, 2011 in her residence with her family at her side. Norma was born on April 16, 1922 in Alvordton, Ohio to the late Norman Eugene and Margaret Alice (Hoag) Hart. She was a 1941 graduate of Montpelier High School. She married Charles B. Patten on July 30, 1955 in Bryan, and he preceded her in death on November 28, 1996. Norma was a finisher at Bryan Custom Plastics for 31 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Trinity Seventh Day Adventist Church, rural Defiance.
Surviving is her two sons, Bill Flynn of Bryan and Allen Richards of Van Wert, Ohio; two daughters, Teri (Vernon) Creps of Camden, Michigan, Tanya Follett of Ann Arbor, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Shirley Patten of Bryan; 11 grandchildren, James Patten, Kevin (Lorinda) Patten, Susan Patten, John (Jane) Patten, Debra Patten, Marti Obedier, Alexia Follett, Shayla Flynn, Danielle Bostater, Samantha Creps and Tyson Follett; 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, son, Orville, three daughters, Jeannie Richards, Lyla Flynn and Zena Richards; two grandsons, Billy Flynn and Kevin Follett and one sister, Mary Elaine Flynn.
Visitation for Norma Patten will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services for Norma will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with John Heffelfinger officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, rural Bryan.
