Dateline: Bryan, Ohio May 22, 2007 James L. Gleason, 87, of Bryan, Ohio and formerly of Clear Lake, Indiana and Archbold, Ohio, passed away May 21, 2007 at his residence. Born on July 24, 1919 in Williams Center, Ohio, he was the son of Edith (Scott) and George Gleason. He was married to Geraldine Grace (Lichty) Gleason for 49 years at the time of her death in 1992. A 1937 graduate of Bryan High School, Mr. Gleason served in the military during World War II aboard a submarine chaser in the North Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He retired from La Choy Foods in 1982 after working 36 years in various departments. At retirement he was the Director of Quality Control for La Choy. For over two decades he traveled extensively throughout China, Taiwan, Thailand and Hong Kong assisting La Choy in finding new markets for the purchase and canning of Asian vegetables. He is survived by his companion, Mary Ann Stevenson; two sons, James and spouse Dawn of Columbus, Ohio, and John "Scott" and spouse Karrie of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; two daughters, Jane Kutzley and spouse Scott of Worthington, Ohio and Nancy Nesline and spouse Richard, of Worthington, Ohio. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Alicia Nesline of Worthington, OH, Meredith Nesline of Los Angeles, CA, Carolyn Nesline of Worthington, OH, Rachel Kutzley of Worthington, OH, Brian Kutzley of Bowling Green, OH, John S. Gleason, Jr. of Denver, CO, and Adam J. Gleason of Fort Collins, CO. Preceding him in death were his wife, Gerry, and two brothers, Richard of Chicago, IL and William (Ted) Gleason of Frost Proof, FL. Private funeral services will be held at a later date. The Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home of Bryan, Ohio, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
