Kathelyn “Katie” Ann Oberlin, 45, of Pleasant Lake, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born Nov. 2, 1972, in Angola to Gary and Lee Ann (Buell) Oberlin. Katie graduated from Angola High School in 1990. She worked at RISE Inc., Lakeland Nursing Center and the Steuben County Council on Aging. Katie served on RISE’s Client Council and participated in Special Olympics.
Katie enjoyed card games, developing new recipes after watching cooking programs and her kitten, Nicky. She was selfless, kind, gentle, cheerful and giving. Everyone she met she touched in some way. Katie was a longtime member of Hamilton United Methodist Church and was active in the church.
Surviving are her parents; her sister, Amy Oberlin of Angola; her niece, PaigeAnn Puthoff of Angola; grandparents Mac Lynn and Pat Oberlin of Hamilton and Marjorie Buell of Angola; aunts; uncles; cousins; and extended family. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lee Buell.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton United Methodist Church, the Rev. Larry Dimick officiating. Calling will be one hour prior to the service and from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 3985 E. Church St., Hamilton. A private family interment will be held at Carter Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to RISE Inc., 1600 Wohlert St., Angola, IN 46703, for an endowment being established in Katie’s name.
