Obituary

Artie M. Coleman, 77 years, of Kunkle, passed away at 4:48 a.m. Thursday, August 02, 2012 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, where she had been admitted Wednesday morning.Artie was born April 11, 1935 in Mingo County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Mosco and Leotia (Hunt) Gilman.She married James "Jimmy" D. Coleman, Sr. on March 5, 1973, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2002.Artie was employed at the former Strydel Company in Stryker as a press operator for over 25 years, retiring in 1998.She attended the Bryan Gospel Tabernacle.Artie was an excellent cook and baker, always keeping her family fed with the best foods and deserts.She enjoyed making crafts and gardening, but she really loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her six children, James (Joyce) Gibson, Sr. of West Unity, David (Donna) Gibson of Edon, Frank Gibson of Smithfield, NC., Elizabeth (Pastor Charles) Hardy Jr. of Charleston, WV., James Coleman, Jr. and Jackie Coleman of Cleveland; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dallas Gilman of Okeechobee, FL. and Earnest Gilman of Delbarton, WV; one sister, Sarah Ann Gilman of Okeechobee, FL.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James, granddaughter, Elizabeth Renee Gibson, four brothers, James, Mosco Jr., Alex and Bill Gilman and three sisters, Ida Smith, Edith Weekley and Garnet Gilman.

Visitation for Artie M. Coleman will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012 with her son-in-law, Pastor Charles Hardy Jr. and Pastor Israel Aguilar officiating.Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan.
