Obituary

Austin R. Metz , 23, of Hicksville, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at ProMedica Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.

Born on October 27, 1994 in Hicksville, Austin was the son of Ryan Metz and Jill Miller.

Austin was a 2013 graduate of Hicksville High School. While a student, he participated in sports. After high school, he turned his love for sports into a desire for fitness and was into weight lifting and exercise. Austin has a passion for technology and computers. He became the family "techie" and was in the process of earning a computer science degree. He had taken classes at Northwest State and Columbus State Community Colleges. The relationships Austin shared with his family and friends were most important. He loved spending time with them. Because of his giving nature, Austin chose to be listed as an organ donor. He gave of himself so that others could continue their relationship with their own family and friends.

Austin was employed by Two Bandits Brewery in Hicksville. He attended church at Gateway Chapel.

Austin is survived by his parents; his sister, Ashlyn, grandparents, Joan Rager, Bill Metz, Sindie (Rick) Martenies; great grandmother, Leona Miller; uncles, Rick, Jason and Curtis (Kirsten) Metz; aunts, Staci (Will) Douglas, Alex (Justin Schafer) Martenies; many cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Austin will be Tuesday at 11:00 at Hicksville Cornerstone Church (old Presbyterian Church) with Pastor Jack Teeple officiating. Visitation will be Monday from noon to 8:00 at the church.

Burial will be in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville.

Memorials may be made to the Defiance County Canine Unit.
