Obituary

Barbara A. Seibert, 90, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Antwerp Manor Assisted Living.  Barb was born October 19, 1934, in Hicksville, daughter of the late John A. and Regina V. (Kenner) Meyer.  She was a 1953 graduate of Antwerp High School.  Barb married George G. Seibert on October 6, 1956, in Antwerp, and he preceded her in death on August 1, 2008.  She worked as a cook at the former Fountain Manor Nursing Home in Hicksville for over 20 years, and at various restaurants in retirement.  Cooking and baking were a life-long passion for Barb, not only in her career, but also in her service to others as she often blessed family and friends with meals and desserts.   Barb was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Hicksville, where she was active with the Altar Rosary Society.  She was also a member of the Hicksville Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Aerie #2556 and the Hicksville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  Barb also enjoyed reading and regular visits meeting friends at the coffee shop.  In their younger years, they enjoyed taking their family on many camping trips.

Surviving are four of her children, Angie (Brian) Slattery of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Alan (Chris) Seibert of Grover Hill, Ohio, Ann (Troy) Sonner of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Andrew (Andrea) Seibert of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Brett) Fields, Jeremy (Shannon Raye) Slattery, Bailey Seibert, Cole Sonner, Grant Sonner, Alex (Shania) Seibert, Garett Seibert and Parker Seibert; five great-grandchildren, Cora, Vera, George, Andiee and Lyla; two siblings, Regina (Gary) Meek of Hicksville, and Virginia Kunesh of Antwerp; and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Meyer of Hicksville, Sue Meyer of Antwerp and Sister Mary Seibert of Reading, Pennsylvania.  Barb was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; one son, Tony Seibert; and two brothers, John Meyer and Joe Meyer.

Visitation for Barbara A. Seibert will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M..  A Mass of Christian burial for Barbara will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 27, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 100 Antwerp Drive, Hicksville, with Father Dan Borgelt officiating.  There will be an additional hour of visitation at the church prior to the start of the Mass.  Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
