Bonnie S.
Miller
September 13, 1937 – October 27, 2025
LaVon S. "Bonnie" Miller, 88, of Auburn, Indiana, and a former lifelong resident of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, at Parkview DeKalb Hospital, Auburn. Bonnie was born September 13, 1937, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, daughter of the late Arno and Dorothy (Locker) Honeick. She was a 1955 graduate of Northside High School in Fort Wayne, where she maintained many close friendships with old school friends over the years. Bonnie married Bernard N. Miller on July 6, 1963, in Fort Wayne, and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2020. She worked as an executive secretary for the Vice President of GTE / Verizon for over 33 years, retiring in 1991. Bonnie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville, and served as a prayer warrior, delivered Meals on Wheels, baked cookies for Vacation Bible School and served on the funeral dinner committee. Her faith was very important to her, and she always prayed for her children and grandchildren. Bonnie was also a member of the Butler Fraternal Order of Eagles #2733 Auxiliary and the Hicksville American Legion Post #223 Auxiliary, where she served as treasurer.
She loved watching men's college basketball and was a loyal fan of the Indiana Hoosiers. Bonnie enjoyed traveling with her husband in earlier years, taking trips to Hawaii, Niagara Falls, Las Vegas, the Wisconsin Dells, and wintering in Florida. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, playing cards, reading romance novels, making greeting cards, and she loved a good Bloody Mary. Bonnie was her family matriarch – everyone seemed to connect through her and she updated and shared the comings and goings with each of her daughters.
Surviving are her four daughters, Julie (Dana) Ballinger of Hicksville, Ohio, Nora (Joe) Maupin of Auburn, Indiana, Andrea Bell of Dayton, Ohio and Lisa (Paul) Klopsch of Fort Wayne, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Josh Ballinger, Ben (Kara) Ballinger, Andrew (Hillary) Ballinger, Matthew (Jaime) Ballinger, Shannon (Glen) Ramdhan, Adam (Aime) Stairhime, Connor Bell, Henry Klopsch and Jack Klopsch; and 16 great-grandchildren. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; an infant daughter, Amy L. Miller; son-in-law, Chris Bell; and one sister, Marilyn J. Honeick.
