Obituary

Carol Ann Langevin, 84, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away June 10, 2026, at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, surrounded by her loving family, whose lives she touched so deeply. Carol was born on January 31, 1942, in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of the late Edward Louis and Ella Mary (Benny) Hilligas. She spent most of her life in the close-knit community of Bryan, Ohio, where she built a life centered on compassion, friendship, faith, and devotion to her family. Carol attended Mount St. Joseph Academy High School in Buffalo, New York, and later graduated from the Sisters of Charity Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo. Soon after nursing school, she married her high school sweetheart, Paul P. Langevin, on August 24, 1963, and he survives.

A devoted Catholic, Carol was a faithful member of Saint Patrick Church in Bryan, Ohio, where she raised her children and where her faith remained an important part of her life. She was actively involved in the Christian Family Movement (CFM) through the church, which strengthens marriage through faith and community. Carol was a well-respected and dedicated nurse to her co-workers and community. Much of her work was spent serving residents at Bryan Nursing Care Center, and at Bryan Medical Group as an injection nurse.

Outside of her work, Carol embraced life with creativity and joy. She enjoyed exercise classes, reading, China painting, and knitting. Her kitchen and herbal garden were at the center of her domestic life, and she took great pride in growing herbs. Carol was a follower of Catholic Trappist monk Thomas Merton’s works, whose writings and spiritual reflections deeply inspired her. Carol also loved traveling the country in her RV with her husband, Paul, accompanied by their beloved dogs and cats. Their favorite destinations included Florida and several national parks.

She treasured the many years spent with her circle of friends. Above all, Carol was devoted to her family and took great pride in her children and the life they built together. Her sweet and reserved nature will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Paul P. Langevin of Atlanta, Georgia; three children, Denise Langevin of Chicago, Illinois, Paul E. Langevin of Sunnyvale, California, and Michele Langevin of Atlanta, Georgia; her foster son, Joey Chavez, her beloved grandson, Kennedy; her siblings, Patricia Becker of Sarasota, Florida; Susan Hilligas of Sarasota, Florida; and Michael (Jeanine) Hilligas of College Station, Texas; She also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family members who will cherish her memory always. Her legacy of compassion, friendship, faith, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation for Carol will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 610 S. Portland Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506. A Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 A.M. in the church with Fr. Andrew Wellmann officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery, Bryan.
