Cathryn Irena Amstutz, age 75, of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Woodland Terrace of Bridgman, Michigan, where she had been a resident for several years. Cathryn was born April 28, 1951, in Coldwater, Ohio, the daughter of the late Dale E. and Ruby Lee (Strusaker) Amstutz. Cathryn lived in Fort Recovery, Ohio, until age 10, then moved with her family to a farm outside Williams Center, Ohio, where she lived for over 60 years. She attended Bryan High School. Cathryn worked for many years at Gorny-Winzeler's, most notably in Toyland. She was a member of Williams Center Asbury United Methodist Church (now Trinity Gospel Church), where she was the organist for over 50 years. Cathryn also enjoyed working with children, sewing, needlework, genealogy, and had a special place in her heart for cats.
Surviving are her three sisters, Rebecca (Ted) Chaffee of Bridgman, Michigan, Genevieve (Rick) Noggle of Melrose, Ohio, and Jacquelyn (Lester) Dennis of Topeka, Kansas; one brother, Daniel Amstutz of Ann Arbor, Michigan; two nephews, Chris (Mouna) Chaffee, Eric (Shelley) Chaffee; one niece, Michelle (Paul) Cipich; two grand-nieces and three grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Cathryn Amstutz will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Gospel Church of Williams Center, 305 Chicago Street, Bryan, Ohio. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the church with Rev. Tom Graves and Rev. Brad Martin officiating. Private burial will be held at Ney Cemetery. Services are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Gospel Church.
