Coral I. Cocke, 87, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in her residence surrounded by her loving family. Coral was born August 20, 1935, in Grover Hill, Ohio, daughter of the late Henry and Maude (Ashenfelter) Stahl. She married Carl E. "Ernie" Cocke on December 11, 1990, in Dupont, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 2009. Coral retired from Dinner Bell Foods, where she was a computer operator for 16 years. She also previously worked as a receptionist for her son-in-law, Dr. Underwood, at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville. Coral was a member of Hicksville Cornerstone Church. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, working on puzzles, baking, traveling, and going to musicals. Having a fun, adventurous spirit, Coral was always looking for a party somewhere. She will most be remembered for the love she had for her family.
Coral is survived by her five children, Jaci Underwood of Hicksville, Jeff (Carmen) Panico of Hicksville, John (Missy) Panico of Mark Center, Ohio, Janice (Mike) Smith of Sherwood, Ohio, and Jill (Cory) LaGrow of Mascoutah, Illinois; 23 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernie; two sons, Hank Panico and Infant Joseph Panico; a son-in-law, Dr. Daniel Underwood; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Hudson Panico; four brothers, Woody, Ike, Henry and George; and six sisters, Ida, Alice, Wilma, Opal, Helen, and Maxine.
Visitation for Coral I. Cocke will be held from 2:00 – 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526. Funeral services for Coral will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 5, 2023, in the funeral home with Pastors Terry Porter and Jack Teeple officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, Grover Hill, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Crippled Children & Adult Society, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
