Services for Danielle M. Washington will be held this Friday, March 13, 2026.
Danielle M. Washington, 51, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Danielle was born on January 27, 1975, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of the late Daniel D. and Carol M. (Shawley) Ankney. After graduating from Defiance High School, she continued her education and built an accomplished career in healthcare. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Rhodes State College, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University, and later obtained her wound care and ostomy certification from Emory University. Danielle dedicated 18 years of service as a Telehealth Triage Nurse with Parkview Health. Prior to that, she specialized as a wound care nurse for five years, where she was known for her compassion and dedication to her patients. On November 7, 2025, Danielle married the love of her life and partner of eight years, Jamal A. Jones, who survives.
Family was always Danielle's greatest joy. She was a proud and devoted mother to five children and a loving grandmother to four grandchildren whom she absolutely adored. She was a talented artist with a passion for painting, enjoyed singing karaoke with loved ones, traveling to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, listening to music, and attending concerts - especially with her son, John. Danielle also loved exploring the outdoors with Jamal, whether walking, kayaking, or biking together.
She is survived by her husband, Jamal Jones of Perrysburg; five children, Carissa Washington, Leanna (Jesse) Elliott, Brad Washington, John Washington, and Jacob Washington; four grandchildren, October Elliott, Autumn Elliott, Nahla Gomez, and Nathan Gomez; one brother, Wesley Ankney of Defiance, Ohio; one sister, Joanna Rios of Defiance, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Dominique Jones of Port Arthur, Texas; her special niece, Jada Rios of Defiance, Ohio; and by her dear friend, Michelle Seely of Bryan, Ohio. Danielle was preceded in death by her parents; and by her brother, Andrew Ankney.
Visitation for Danielle M. Washington will be held from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 13, 2026 , at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506. A Memorial Service will immediately follow in the funeral home beginning at 1:00 P.M. with her mother-in-law, Pastor Linda Jones officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to help defray expenses related to Danielle's sudden loss.
