July 20, 1939 – December 25, 2025
DeVonn E. Werder, 86 years of Hicksville, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. DeVonn was born July 20, 1939, in Stryker, Ohio, the son of the late Milton and Irene (Smith) Werder. He was a 1957 graduate of Stryker High School. He married Dorothy L. "Dottie" Burns on July 2, 1960, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Hicksville, and she preceded him in death on August 24, 2008. DeVonn was a Plant Superintendent, working for Syncro Corp, Crook-Miller Handle Factory, Grabill Cabinets and Mossberg Industries. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic church, Hicksville, and the Knights of Columbus Council #10043. He was also a member of the Hicksville Eagles Aerie, British Car Club of America, Antique Tractor Club and was a Board Member of the Christmas Cruise Thru that he founded in 2013. He loved to travel, play golf, fly bi-planes, and restore anything he could get his hands on. He enjoyed playing with his great-grandson, Vire and excited of the arrival of his great granddaughter in June.
Surviving is his daughter, Denise (Vince) Sutter of Spencerville, Indiana; granddaughter, Lindsey (James) Moore of Auburn, Indiana; great-grandson, Vire Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy L. "Dottie" Werder; one son, DeVonn; three siblings, Richard Werder, Carolyn Nofziger and Stanley Werder.
Visitation for DeVonn E. Werder will be held Monday, December 29, 2025, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, where the Knights of Columbus will conduct services at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in St. Michael Catholic Church, 100 Antwerp Drive, Hicksville with Father Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be directed to the Christmas Cruise Thru, 112 East High Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526.
