Donna L. Smith, age 85, of Hicksville, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Vancrest of Hicksville, surrounded by her family. Donna was born on May 6, 1940, in Williams Center, Ohio, daughter of the late Ross and Helen (Newman) Brannan. She was a 1958 graduate of Farmer Mark High School. Following graduation, she married Gaylen L. Smith on February 23, 1958. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage until Gaylen's passing on April 10, 2006. Donna worked as a custodian at the Johnson Memorial Library for over 25 years. She was formerly an active member of West Milford Church of Christ and a current member of First Church of Christ, Hicksville. Donna was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Johnson Memorial Library- Friends of the Library. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Donna dedicated her life to caring for her family and supporting them in all their endeavors. She cared deeply about those around her and always looked for opportunities to help. Donna enjoyed studying family genealogy, reading, jigsaw puzzles and word searches.

Surviving are her five children: Rick (Lisa) Smith of Toledo, Ohio, Roy (Pam) Smith of Hicksville, Ohio, Gale Smith of Hicksville, Ohio, Tina Smith of Kendallville, Indiana, and Philip (Lea) Smith of Toledo, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Ben Smith, Leah (Jon) Hare, Emily Smith, Nathan (Sarah) Smith, Amelia (Matt) Shropshire, Grace Smith, Noah Smith and Tyler Smith; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gaylen Smith; daughter, Monica Smith; 6 siblings.

Visitation for Donna will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 N. Main Street, Hicksville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Bass officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
