Eugene Martin Jones, 86 years of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and recently of Spencerville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Vancrest of Hicksville, where he was a resident. Eugene was born January 28, 1939, in Butte, Montana, the son of the late William E. and Catherine (Maye) Jones. He was a graduate of O'Dea High School, Seattle, Washington. He continued his education, receiving his master's degree in Sociology. Eugene was proud to serve his country in both the United States Navy as well as the United States Air Force, serving for 22 years. After his discharge from the Air Force, Eugene was a Social Worker for the Colorado Prison System for 20 plus years. A devout Catholic by faith, Eugene was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Eugene enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as reading. He loved Colorado! He was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan and rooted for the Air Force Falcon Football Team each year.
Surviving are his two children, Andrew "AJ" (Jaime) Jones of Spencerville, Indiana and Catherine Gail "Cici" Jones of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren, Joshua Jones, Michael Jones, Courtney Jones and Allie Jones; four great-grandchildren, Hadley, Hampton, Nolan and Henley Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life, Kathleen Jane Jones one sister and two brothers.
There will be no visitation of services locally. Eugene will be buried at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in Pike's Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Local arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hicksville, Ohio. Colorado arrangements are under the care of Blunt Funeral Home, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Memorial contributions by be directed to the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Colorado Springs, Inc. for the benefit of St. Dominic Parish Endowment Fund.
