Gale R. Hesselschwardt, 63, of Ney, Ohio passed away peaceful in his sleep on Saturday, September 3, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. Gale was born August 17, 1959. in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late Hubert J. and Hildonna R. (Sheets) Hesselschwardt. He was a 1977 graduate of Tinora High School and Four County Career Center. Gale married Robin M. Grogg on October 11, 1980, in Napoleon, Ohio and she survives. Gale recently became owner of Defiance Recreational Incorporated. He had worked at the bowling alley for over 30 years. Gale also worked at Chase Brass for 31 years. He was an active member of Ney Church of God where he served as an Elder. Gale was a proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time with his grandkids, feeding and watching birds.

Surviving is his lovely wife of 41 years, Robin Hesselschwardt of Ney, Ohio; two children, Amanda Ayers of Ney, Ohio and Matthew (Emily) Hesselschwardt of Sherwood, Ohio; 4 grandchildren, Faith Harding, Baylee Kiessling, Bentley Hesselschwardt, and Lincoln Hesselschwardt; three step-grandchildren, Riley Bowen, Zoey Bowen and Ben Bowen; two sisters, Donna Hesselschwardt and Debbie (Mark) Duquette; brother, Mike (Amy) Hesselschwardt. Gale was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Ned and Maxine Grogg.

Visitation for Gale will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Ney Church of God, 3413 State Route 15, Ney, Ohio. Funeral Services for Gale will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Pastor Kevin King officiating. Interment will follow at Independence Cemetery, Defiance, Ohio. Arrangements are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Sherwood, Ohio.
