Gary L. Miller, 76, of Phoenix, Arizona, and formerly of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the Phoenix Veterans' Administration Medical Center. Gary was born August 17, 1946, in Hicksville, Ohio, son of the late John and Kathleen (Edwards) Miller. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in March 1966, serving until his honorable discharge in March 1969. Gary married Michelle Creveling on July 24, 1976, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on August 30, 2021. Gary was a self-employed writer and painter. One memory shared by his Aunt Margaret, was that he loved animals, and in his younger years Gary raised and trained dogs, and had a variety of pets, including a snake, crawfish and chameleon. Gary was known to be an incredibly talented musician. He loved to entertain his friends by playing his guitar, emulating Elvis and using all of Elvis's moves.
Gary is survived by one daughter, Errin (Cory) Ritter of Angola, Indiana; two granddaughters, Dallas and Madison; two aunts, Margaret Jones and Sandra (Richard) Mastin, both of Hicksville, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Michelle Creveling; one brother, Norman 'Woody" Woodruff; and a special aunt, Edith "Geeg" Edwards.
Graveside services for Gary L. Miller will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio, with Celebrant Patricia Peter officiating. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Hicksville American Legion Post 223.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hicksville American Legion Post 223, 227 East High Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526, or to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org .
