Obituary

Gene Blad, 91, of Warsaw, Indiana and formerly of Bryan, Ohio passed away Monday, June 9, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. Gene was born June 24, 1934, in Grovertown, Indiana the son of the late Rueben and Dorothy (Topping) Blad. On June 27, 1964, Gene married Esther June Patton. They were married for 34 years, until Esther’s passing on March 25, 2003. Gene married Sharon L. Bishop on April 15, 2008, and she survives. Gene was employed by Winzeler Construction where he was a heavy equipment operator. He attended Warsaw Community Church and previously attended New Life Worship Center, Bryan. Gene enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, walking and simply enjoying his property. Above all, Gene loved his family.

Surviving is his wife, Sharon Blad of Warsaw, Indiana; four children, Tina (Michael) Tabler, Tony (Charlotte) Blad, Betty Stucky, and Dorothy Simon; eight stepchildren, Misty (Pepper) Pinette, Andrew (Jeanie) Ammerman, Sam Ammerman, Paul (Darla) Ammerman, Danny Blad, Tammy Dishman, Jerry Adams, and Rich (Jennifer) Sizemore; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; three daughters, Charlene Gurwell, Judy Brown and Kay Ann Patten; son, Lee Blad; granddaughter, Lena Blad; grandson, David Blad; one brother; three sisters.

Visitation for Gene will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 12:00 -2:00 p.m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 N. Lynn Street, Bryan. A memorial service celebrating Gene’s life will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Mark Holbrook officiating.
