Obituary

George Hoover, 67 years, of Defiance, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance. George was born April 9, 1948 in Tiffin, Ohio, the son of the late Charles A. and Lois M. (Shock) Hoover. He was a 1966 graduate of Lakota High School. George moved to Arizona where he opened C & G Ornamental Iron Shop with his brother, which he operated for many years. After moving to Defiance, George worked at Meijer and at Kroger until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of the NRA and an internet chat group, Lake of the Ozarks Eagles Chat site. An avid Detroit Tigers Fan, he loved searching out eagles and birdwatching. He also found pleasure in photography and gardening. His artistic side found him gathering driftwood, which he created hundreds of art pieces.





Surviving are his five siblings, Shirley Anese of Green Valley, Arizona, Janice St. Clair of Tumacocori, Arizona, David (Jeanette) Hoover of Lincoln, Missouri, Charlotte (Charlie) Dockery of Defiance and Marie Hoover also of Defiance. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as his dog, Rojo, who he treated as his child. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marlene Chaney and one brother, Charles Hoover.



There will be no visitation and services will remain private for his family. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio.
