Gretchen Marie Harris, 56 years, of Hamilton, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Laurels of DeKalb, surrounded by her family. Gretchen was born March 18, 1968, in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Robert Joseph (Catherine (Gallagher) Rhile. She was a 1986 graduate of Princeton High School, Princeton, Pennsylvania. She received her Associated Degree for Christ for the Nation, where she also met the love of her life, Phillip Harris. Gretchen went on to receive her bachelor's degree from Grace College in 2020. She married Phillip Harris on April 6, 1991, in Lewisville, Indiana, and he survives. Gretchen was a Personal Banker for Star Financial Bank for 15 years. She was also a worship minister at House of Prayer and at Lake Missionary Church for many years. She was also the Children's Director at Lake Missionary Church as well as Co-Director at Harvest Christian Camp in Lewisville, Indiana. Gretchen had a love of gardening, thrifting, Goodwill shopping, and going to garage sales. She enjoyed being with people, but most of all her family.
Surviving are her husband, Phillip "Phil" Harris of Hamilton; three children, Megan (Matthew "Sid") Elford of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Luke Harris of Hamilton and Jodie Harris of Hamilton; stepmother, Sally Rhile of West Chester, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Maureen Bayliss of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Julie (Scott) Sidlow of Parkside, Pennsylvania; one brother, Michael (Susan) Rhile of Glenn Mills, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother-in-law, Steve Bayliss.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Gretchen Marie Harris at 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Restoration Ministries, 9030 West US 20, Angola, Indiana with Pastor Mike Cain, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends, two hours prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home was honored to care for the family.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation or to Angie's Hand Food Distribution.
