Irma I. Ford Houtz Miller, 80, passed away early Monday, July 31, 2006 at Countryside Care Center in Jackson, Michigan.Mrs. Miller was a former resident of Bryan where she was a waitress for many years.She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bryan and also worked at the Church Women United Thrift Shop, Bryan.During her illness she moved to Jackson, Michigan. Mrs. Miller was born on November 23, 1925 in Sherwood, Ohio; the daughter of Elizabeth Mae (Reynolds) and Everett Ford.She grew up in Defiance County and attended Farmer School where she was a member of the accordion band; graduating in 1945.After graduation she moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana where she worked in a factory building airplanes for the World War II cause.She was married to Robert H. Miller on November 17, 1979 and he preceded her. Surviving her are her daughters:Terry (Rinkel) (Houtz) Knox and Carmen Houtz Colby, a son-in-law, Elmer Knox; granddaughters, Tonya (Knox) Smith, Andrea & Kristen Colby; great granddaughters, Geneva and Zealand Smith, all of Michigan; one brother, Henry (Irene) Ford, sisters-in-law, Betty Ford and Maxine Ford of Bryan, along with several nieces and nephews.Also surviving are five stepchildren, Roberta Dell, Pam Barnes, Catherine "Cricket" Crites, Jodi Parsons and Michael Miller and thirteen stepgrandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, two brothers, Edgar A Ford and William H. Ford, preceded Mrs. Miller. Funeral services for Mrs. Irma I. Miller will be on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. at Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home, Bryan, with Rev. Jon Exman officiating.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Gifts in loving memory of Mrs. Miller are requested to Alzheimer's Association, Ford Family Trust of the Bryan Area Foundation or donor's choice.
