Janelle J. (McKinley) Lowe, 67, of Auburn, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Vancrest of Hicksville, Hicksville, Ohio. She was born September 28, 1958, in Hicksville, daughter of the late William R. "Bugs" and Bonnell J. (Brown) McKinley. Janelle was a 1977 graduate of Hicksville High School. She played girls basketball, ran track and was a cheerleader for the Hicksville Aces. Janelle was the lead secretary at Hiwassee Mental Health in Cleveland, Tennessee. She previously worked at Med-Corp, Memorial Hospitals in Chattanooga and Hixson, Tennessee, and held various office positions. Along with working in factories, offices, and hospitals, she owned and operated Pearl's and Lace Flower shop located between Defiance and Sherwood, Ohio. Janelle was a member of the former Twin Oaks United Methodist Church in Oakwood, Ohio, now known as Oakwood Community Church. She attended Lakewood Park Baptist Church while living in Auburn. In her free time, Janelle enjoyed photography, traveling, and was always ready to take a "road trip". She loved spending time with her friends and helping others - she never met a stranger.
She is survived by her brother, William "Bill" McKinley, Jr. of Hicksville; aunt, Kathryn Brown of Hicksville; many cousins; by her dear friend of over 50 years, Gloria Connolly of Defiance, Ohio; and by her many friends at Lakewood Park Baptist Church in Auburn. Janelle was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Lester and Iva Brown and William and Alyene McKinley; uncle, Don Brown; and aunt, Betty Hughes.
To honor Janelle's wishes no visitation or funeral services held. Private interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Crippled Children & Adult Society, Inc., St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to a Charity of the Donor's Choice.
