Jeannie L. Laney, 61, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jeannie was born March 3, 1961, in Hicksville, Ohio, daughter of the late Ervin and Joanne (Shreve) Wendt. She married Steven J. Laney on September 4, 1978, at Forder Bridge in Paulding County, and he survives. Jeannie worked mainly as a homemaker, supporting the needs of her family over the years, but also spent time as a nurse's aid and at Matsu in Edgerton. Jeannie was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hicksville, where she was previously active with the Piecemakers Quilt Group (PIECE). Jeannie was an avid crafter, and a skilled quilter, sewer, and crocheter. Most important to Jeannie, was the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jeannie is survived by her loving husband, Steven J. Laney of Bryan, Ohio; two children, Justin (Claudia) Laney of Stryker, Ohio, and Rebecca Laney of Bryan, Ohio; three grandchildren, Korbynn Cranson, Aiden Gray, and Alexander Gray; three siblings, Cindy (Norm) Schlosser of Hicksville, Nancy Wendt of Hicksville, and Randy (Shelly) Wendt of Antwerp, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Roy Wendt.
Visitation for Jeannie L. Laney will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 from 11 A.M. – 1 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526. Funeral services for Jeannie will immediately follow in the funeral home on Friday beginning at 1 P.M. with Pastor Susan Kronbach officiating. Interment will follow in Rochester Cemetery, Cecil, Ohio.
Memorial contributions in can be directed to the Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Ohio SPCA), a cause that was near and dear to Jeannie's heart.
