Obituary

Judy was a woman who loved deeply, lived unapologetically, and never did anything halfway. Judy was born March 12, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas, daughter of Wayne and Francoise (Brenner) North. She was a 1976 graduate of Montpelier High School. She married Eddy Gutierrez on April 10, 1977, and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2006. She was a faithful and devoted employee of YenFang working for 30 plus years, until her retirement in 2026. Her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment were her three amazing daughters, Audelia, Nina, and Tara. Her girls were her whole world—the light in her eyes and the best part of her heart. No matter where life took them, they always knew they had a mother who would stand beside them, fight for them, and love them fiercely.

Judy had a smile that was contagious and a laugh that could be heard for miles. She had a way of making people feel welcome, loved, and accepted. She loved hard and gave freely, and if someone she cared about or needed something, she would do whatever she could to help. She was the kind of person who showed up—not just when it was convenient, but whenever she was needed.

She found happiness in simple things. She loved to fish, crochet, and spend time tinkering in her garage, always finding something to fix, create, or figure out. She was never afraid to get her hands dirty or take on a new project.

Judy will also be remembered for her unfiltered honesty. She said what she thought, meant what she said, and never had much use for sugarcoating. You always knew where you stood with Judy—and that honesty was part of what made her so special. She was genuine, fiercely loyal, and completely herself.

To her daughters, she was more than a mom. She was their protector, their biggest supporter, their safe place, and their ride-or-die. To her grandchildren, she was a loving grandmother who brought her own special kind of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. To her friends, she was the person you could count on—the one who would answer the phone, show up, tell you the truth, and stand by your side.

Judy leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through her daughters, her grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to have known her. Her laugh will be remembered. Her honesty will be missed. Her stories will be told. And her love will remain in the hearts of those she left behind.

Surviving are her three loving daughters, Audelia (John) Gutierrez of Bryan, Nina (Les) Gleckler of Wauseon, and Tara (Aaron) Gutierrez of Archbold; Her mother, Francoise North; seven grandchildren, Dominic, Logan, Alex, Dakota, Addyson, Landon and Kirsten; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Desiree Bye of Allen, Texas, Polly (Alan) Conrad of Pine Knolls Shores, North Carolina and Arleen (Paul) McCusty of Defiance; her pride and joy, her tortoise, Henry. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne North; her husband, Eddy Gutierrez and one sister, Jean North.

Visitation for Judy Gutierrez will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, where memorial services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in West Jefferson Cemetery, Montpelier.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we are grateful for every moment, every laugh, every lesson, every hug, and every memory.

She was one of a kind. She loved fiercely. She lived authentically. And she was, and always will be, deeply loved.

Rest peacefully, Mom. You will forever be our light, our protector, and our ride-or-die. We love you more than words could ever say.
