Kathleen M. "Kathy" Hanna, 72, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026, at Vancrest of Hicksville, where she had resided for the past six months. Kathy was born on September 1, 1953, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian (White) Wesseler. She graduated from Northrop High School in 1972. On November 20, 1982, Kathy married James E. Hanna Sr. The couple shared four wonderful years together before James preceded her in death on November 20, 1986. Kathy loved James deeply and treasured the time they shared throughout her life. Kathy dedicated more than 30 years to Grabill Cabinets, where she worked in production, before concluding her career after 10 years as a cashier at Meijer. A faithful member of Hicksville Cornerstone Church, Kathy enjoyed participating in many Bible Study groups over the years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, La Fleur De Terre Garden Club, a Stampin' Up! club, and Sauder Village. Kathy was a true people person who never met a stranger. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, collecting dolls, and painting. Above all, she had a special love for animals, especially her beloved cats.

Surviving are her four stepchildren, James (Lori) Hanna Jr. of Stryker, Ohio, Danielle (Jason Chehi) Hanna of Sherwood, Ohio, Carla (Jeremy) Collins of Hicksville, Ohio, and Willow (Jason) Hill of Sherwood, Ohio; ten step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; special cousin who was like a sister, Karan (Steve) Coomer of Woodburn, Indiana; and several close cousins. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Hanna Sr.; and by one brother, Joseph “JR” Wesseler.

Visitation for Kathleen M. Hanna will be held Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon at Hicksville Cornerstone Church, 232 W Arthur Street, Hicksville, OH 43526. Funeral Services for Kathy will immediately follow in the church beginning at 12:00 Noon with Pastor AJ Swanson officiating. Interment will follow in Lost Creek Cemetery, Farmer Township., Defiance County, Ohio. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hicksville.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Kathy’s love of animals, memorial contributions can be directed to the Fort Defiance Humane Society, or to the Friends of Felines' Rescue Center – Defiance, Ohio.
