Margaret A. "Margie" Camp, 80 years of Hicksville, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at Parkview Randallia, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Margie was born January 9, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Buford and Magdalene (Brummitt) Handy. She was a 1962 graduate of Hicksville High School. She married Gerald "Beefy" Camp on August 6, 1966, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and he preceded her in death on September 11, 2014. Margie assisted her husband in operating the family business, Beef's Bar, which opened in Cecil, Ohio, Defiance, Ohio, which operated as the Redwood Bar & Grill, Hicksville, Beef's Bar, Kendallville also operated as Beef's Bar and Waterloo which operated as operated as the Shamrock Bar They also operated the Corunna Liquor Store, Albion Liquor Store and Kendallville Beef's Bar and finally the liquor store in Syracuse, Indiana. Margie enjoyed gambling, antiquing, watching football and Indiana University Basketball and just staying at home watching television with her dog and cat.
Surviving are her two children, Gustin Camp of Hicksville, and Margaret (Tony) Camp-Vanover of Wolcottville, Indiana; one sister, Jean Rozivka of Pinellas Park, Florida; two brothers, Frank (Judy) Handy of Hicksville and John (Mary) Handy of Hicksville; sister-in-law, Jill Handy of Hicksville, and Vera (Bill) Cummins also of Hicksville. Margie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; two sisters, Dolores "Doe" Handy and Helen Ahern; one brother, James "Jim" Handy.
Visitation for Margaret A. "Margie" Handy will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville where funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, March 25, 2024, in the funeral home with Alex Heffelfinger, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery.
