Martha Whitaker Towne, 91 years of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida. Martha was born August 16, 1933, in York, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Camelot and Georgia (Burgess) Whitaker. Martha attended college at the University of Florida and later became a teacher, teaching for over 30 years. She always glowed when talking about her students. Martha married Stanford E. Towne, Sr.

Surviving is her husband, Stanford Towne Sr. of North Fort Myers, Florida; wonderful beloved daughter, Lisa Davis; stepson, Powell (Teresa) Towne. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepson, Stanford Towne Jr., and her beloved cat of 18 years, Alice.

Private burial took place in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity. Local arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, West Unity.
