Marybelle L. Timbrook, 95, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at Parkview DeKalb Hospital in Auburn, Indiana. Marybelle was born March 25, 1931, in Ney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and Irene (Batt) Schindler. She was a 1949 graduate of Ney-Washington Township School, where she served as class president. She continued her education at the Toledo School of Practical Nursing, earning her LPN degree. On January 27, 1951, Marybelle married Basil W. Timbrook in Bryan, Ohio. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2003. Marybelle dedicated more than 33 years to caring for others as a nurse at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville. A talented seamstress, she also owned and operated the Village Fabric Shoppe from 1969 to 1978. A devoted member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Marybelle was active in the Altar Rosary Society and led the church’s funeral luncheon ministry for more than 40 years. She generously shared her sewing talents with the church, creating vestments, altar cloths, and baptismal gowns throughout her many years of service. She also served as chair of the annual church Fall Festival for several years alongside her husband. Marybelle’s service extended beyond her church and family as she volunteered with the American Red Cross and served as a respite relief volunteer with Defiance County Senior Services. At home, Marybelle found joy in caring for her family. Each year, she planted a large garden and canned much of its harvest to help feed her growing family. Her sewing skills were put to loving use as she made clothing for all of her children. Marybelle devoted her life to serving others, nurturing those she loved, and sharing her many talents with her community.

Surviving are four children, Carolyn Kraus of Hicksville, Michael Timbrook of Edon, Ohio, Gary (Jean) Timbrook of Edgerton, Ohio, and Marilyn Leon of Auburn, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Jean Ewers of Bryan, Ohio, and Janice (Robert) Neiling of Napoleon, Ohio; and one sister-in-law, Pat Schindler of Ney, Ohio. Marybelle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Basil; two daughters, Delores "Dee" Bany and Patricia "Trish" Hartnup; one son-in-law, Michael Kraus; one daughter-in-law, Riki Timbrook; one granddaughter, Susanne Kraus; six siblings, Dick (Ann) Schindler, Bernadette (Victor) Sheets, Madonna (Larry) Brenner, Bob (Kate) Schindler, Francis Schindler, Clete (Becky) Schindler and one brother-in-law, Lawrence Ewers.

Visitation for Marybelle L. Timbrook will be held Monday, September 28, 2026, from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 100 Antwerp Drive, Hicksville, with Father Sahaya Clement officiating. There will be an additional hour of visitation at the church on Tuesday before Marybelle’s Mass. Burial will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.
