Obituary

Melanie Marie, a blue-eyed, brown-haired girl, was born February 17, 1942, and was the daughter of Sidney J. and Zelma (Kugler) Morrison in Fremont, Indiana.  Growing up in Metz, Indiana, she was one of five siblings.  Melanie graduated in 1960 from Fremont High School.  Upon graduating, Melanie met Jack Keith Sindel and they married on June 8, 1963. They were then blessed with two sons, Rodney Lee and Randall Lynn. Their life was spent on their farm in rural Edgerton, where she lived the rest of her years.

Melanie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; two sons, Rod and Randy; a brother, Glen Morrison; a sister, Debbie Keener; a stepbrother Lee Jacobs; and her stepmother, Bettie Morrison.  Surviving are Stephanie Sindel (granddaughter), Scott Sindel (grandson) and Stacey (Wes) Stevenson (granddaughter); and three great-grandchildren that she dearly loved, Emory Jace, Kinley Ann and Lainey Michelle, all of Hicksville.  Also surviving are brothers, Roger (Mary) Morrison and Larry Morrison; stepbrother, Wayne (Sharon) Jacobs; brother-in-law, Greg Keener; and sisters-in-law, Jean Goebel, Shirley Wickerham and Phoebe Morrison; daughter-in-law, Julie Ruppert; and many nieces and nephews.

Melanie spent her years tending to the farm where she would do anything from bale hay to make sure everyone was fed and you could oftentimes find her hauling grain to town during harvest.  She was a member of the West Milford Church of Christ where she enjoyed hosting events, teaching Sunday School and being a part of all events that the congregation planned.  A busy social calendar was kept as Melanie enjoyed spending time on trips with loved ones that took her across the country to visit friends and family and see the sights.  Her thoughtfulness of others shined with her visits, cards, calls and messages she took the time to make and send.

Perhaps, most notably, was her ability to make each and every person in her presence feel like they were on top of the world, making each person within her circle feel loved and cherished.  Her humor and faith were always shining bright with her constant attention to others.  Melanie was top-notch at keeping everyone's special dates on the calendar and never missed an opportunity to celebrate with her friends and loved ones on their special days.

Melanie's world lit up with the company of others and her same infectious joy was ever-present with anyone afforded the opportunity to spend time with her.  She had a way of doing all of the things that meant the most - and did so in a manner that brought everyone in her presence closer to God.  Her faith that was portrayed in every gesture will be her legacy left to touch so many with her closing statement on each card she penned, May God Bless you in All Ways, Always.
