Merrill B. Postma, 93 years of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Merrill was born May 16, 1931, in New Paris, Indiana, the son of the late John and Lillie (Walter) Postma, Sr. He was a 1951 graduate of New Paris High School. Merrill married Thelma (Rohrs) Anderson on November 9, 1985, and she survives. He was employed by EZ Gas, Knepp Sand and Stone, the former Goshen Iron and Metal, and the Elkhart County Highway Department. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hicksville. Merrill enjoyed golfing and playing cards, especially euchre.

Surviving is his wife, Thelma of Hicksville, Ohio; children, Allen (Barbra) Postma of Flower Mound, Texas, Penny Wilchewsky of Goshen, Indiana, Linda Anderson of Hicksville, Ohio and David (Lorraine) Anderson of Hicksville, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Kyla (Jon) Greenhoe, Keeton (Chelsea) Zartman, Alex Postma, Abby Postma, Jeff (Jamie) Slattery, Tasha (Marlin) Eicher, Jessica Hancock, David (Stephanie) Anderson, Kyle (Mariah) Anderson; 16 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Nicholas Wilchewsky; one brother, John Postma Jr.

Visitation for Merrill Postma will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at New Paris Cemetery, New Paris, Indiana with Pastor Dave Bunion, officiating.
