June 14, 1938 – January 14, 2026
Ralph J. Art, 87, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in his residence. Ralph was born June 14, 1938, in Celina, Ohio, son of the late Henry F. and Lucina (Rammel) Art. He attended Immaculate Conception High School. Ralph enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves while in school and continued serving in the Marine Corp. He then enlisted in the Army until his honorable discharge on May 24, 1960. He married Carol A. Post on October 20, 1962, in Burkettsville, Ohio. Ralph worked in the paint department of International Harvester, for 30 years, retiring in 1991. Ralph was a dedicated member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Hicksville and was also a member of the Hicksville Knights of Columbus Council 10043 and the Hicksville American Legion Post 223. Ralph was a volunteer at the Huber Opera House for many years.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Carol Art of Hicksville; six children, Zachary Art of Antwerp, Ohio, Eric (Vicki) Art of Hicksville, Colleen (Kenny) Herman of Edgerton, Kimberly White of Hicksville, Carmen Art of Fairfield, Ohio and Darin Art of Blue Ash, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Bob Art of Columbus, Ohio, Clara Forsthoefel of Coldwater, Ohio and Jeanne Gebele of Surprise, Arizona; Sister-in-law, Nancy Art of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Courtney Wroblewski; six siblings, John Art, Catherine Birley, Mary Hundley, LeRoy Art, Ruth Grieshop and James Art.
Visitation for Ralph J. Art will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 3:00 – 6:45 P.M. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, where the Rosary Service will begin at 6:45 P.M. Tuesday evening. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., in St. Michael Catholic Church, 100 Antwerp Drive, Hicksville, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, with Father Daniel Borgelt officiating. Private Graveside Services will take place at a later date at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, where Military Rites will be accorded by the combined honor detail from the Hicksville American Legion Post 223, Farmer American Legion Post 137, and Sherwood VFW Post 5665.
Memorial contributions can be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church, or the Huber Opera House.
