Richard (Dick) Slattery, 74, of Hicksville, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hicksville, Ohio.

He was born June 7, 1935 in Mark Township, Defiance Co., Ohio the son of Bernard and Mary A. (Cussen) Slattery.

He was a 1953 graduate of Mark Center High School.

In 1956 he was united in marriage to Nancy Kline.

Dick was the owner of Slattery Oil Company, Hicksville, Ohio and a farmer.

He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He was a charter member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club, Eagles Aerie #2556 and a past member of the Volunteer Fire Department all of Hicksville, Ohio.

Dick is survived by his wife Nancy of Hicksville; three daughters, Ricki (Mike) Starrett-Defiance Ohio, Chris Slattery- Paulding, Ohio and Joni (Doug) Miller-Hicksville, Ohio, a son Mitch (Cindy) Slattery-Edon, Ohio, six grandchildren Nicholas Slattery, Michela Slattery, Andrea Slattery, Toni Slattery, Berry Fowler, Billie Casebere, a brother Robert (Martha) Slattery-Hicksville, Ohio and mother in law Dortha Kline.

He was preceded in death by a brother Jerry Slattery.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10:00am at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Hicksville, with Father Steve Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-8 with a Rosary Service at 7:30 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, Ohio.

Burial will be at Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the Huber Opera House or Crippled Children & Adult Society.
