Robert E. “Bob” Evans, 97 years of Hicksville, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, at Vancrest of Hicksville. Bob was born September 1, 1928, in Hicksville, Ohio, the son of the late Don and Glenious (Otis) Evans. He was a 1946 graduate of Hicksville High School. Bob was a US Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on May 12, 1954. He married Joan Y. Curie on January 29, 1955, at Coburn Corners Church of Christ, St. Joe, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2026. Bob was a life-long farmer and also worked at DOTCO as a Milling Machine Operator and in Assembly for many years. He was a devoted member of the Hicksville Church of Christ where he served as an Elder, served on the Administrative Board and taught Sunday School for many years, and participated on the Missions Committee. He was a member of the Milford Township Zoning Board, serving as Secretary. He then was named the Zoning Inspector for Milford Township. He was a member of the Northwest Ohio Toy Club, as well as the Farm Bureau. Bob enjoyed his toy tractor collection. He could be found cutting firewood, and his boys picked up the hobby as well.

Surviving are his six children, John Evans, of Hicksville, Mark (Lisa) Evans, of Pittsboro, North Carolina, Tom (Thi) Evans, of Austin, Texas, Steve (Teresa) Evans, of Hicksville, Lois (Nicholas) Gollmer of Merritt Island, Florida, and Ruth (Luke) Davis of Nashport, Ohio. 12 grandchildren, three great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; grandson, Zachery Evans; one brother, and five sisters.

Visitation for Robert E. “Bob” Evans will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Hicksville First Church of Christ, 118 North Main Street, Hicksville. Visitation will continue at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, in the First Church of Christ, Hicksville, where Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Friday with Pastor Eric Bass, officiating. Interment will follow in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville, with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the Hicksville American Legion Post 223, Farmer American Legion Post 137, and the Sherwood VFW Post 5665. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Hicksville.
