Obituary

Rodney Lee Miller, age 78, born June 2, 1947, in Morenci, Michigan, son of the late Blair "Duke" and Edna (Johnson) Miller, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, February 23, 2026, at his home. He was a 1966 graduate of Archbold High School. Rodney proudly served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam, completing two tours of duty and earning the Bronze Star while attaining the rank of Specialist 5. He was honorably discharged on September 3, 1970. Following his service, Rodney worked at AT&T, working hard to be promoted in various positions until his retirement. On March 29, 2003, he married Rose M. Johnston and they enjoyed 22 years of marriage. Rodney and Rose are members at Lockport Mennonite Church. Rodney was a member of the West Unity American Legion Post 669 and served as a supervisor for the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation. A man of faith, service, and integrity, Rodney dedicated his life to helping others through his work, church leadership, and community involvement. Rodney shared a deep love of travel with his wife, Rose, spending many happy years exploring the world together and creating treasured memories. He also cherished road tripping all over the country with his daughter, Betsy. He was a certified genealogist and found great joy in helping others trace their family heritage. Rodney had a passion for learning and the outdoors. He generously shared his time judging local school science fairs and enthusiastically volunteered at Care and Share, Archbold. Rodney was a problem solver and a creator of solutions.

Surviving is his wife, Rose Miller of West Unity, Ohio; daughter, Betsy (Ben) Tuchscher of Negaunee, Michigan; brother, Daniel (Sandy) Miller; mother-in-law, Gloria Woodard; six stepchildren, Chris (Margo) Ladd, Lauralee (Andy) Britton, Adeena (John) McManus, Anna (Lukas) Schaffner, Kayla Lajiness, and Fawna Johnston; 17 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren. Rodney is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Janie Miller; and brothers, Gary and David Miller.

Visitation for Rodney will be held Friday, February 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at Lockport Mennonite Church, 9269 County Road 21N, Stryker, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Matt Weaver, Gary Stuckey and Mike Beasley officiating. Private burial will be made at West Franklin Cemetery, Fayette, Ohio with military rites accorded by West Unity American Legion Post 669. Services are in care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, West Unity.
