Obituary

Ronald D. Schroeder, 78 years of Bryan, and formerly of Cecil, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, in his home with his family at his side. Ron was born June 2, 1945, in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of the late Joseph and Hazel (Speiser) Schroeder. Ron was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era. He married Sandra Wright on March 19, 1966, in Angola, Indiana, and the marriage ended in 1991. He then married Hilda Jean Dohm on June 19, 1993, in Hicksville, Ohio, and she survives. Ron was employed by General Motors Century Foundry in Defiance for 25 years, retiring in 1993 due to a disability. He had previously worked at Johns Manville. Ron was a member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in Junction. An avid Michigan Wolverines fan, Ron enjoyed being outdoors, tending to his lawn and watching NASCAR.

Surviving is his wife, Hilda of Bryan; five children, Tim (Gilda) Schroeder of Monroeville, Indiana, Jeff Schroeder of Grover Hill, Ohio, Ronnie Schroeder of Paulding, Ohio, Jeannie (Scott) Fisher of Paulding and Karen (Carl) Cox of Bryan; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Paul (Shirley) Schroeder of Defiance, Phil (Flora) Schroeder of Defiance and Jim Schroeder of Ney.  He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Jayden Mitchell; and brothers, Joe, also known as "Bill" Schroeder and infant Richard Schroeder.

Visitation for Ronald D. Schroeder will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services for Ron will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, in the funeral home with Pastor Neal Wireman officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Cemetery.
