Ruth E. Miller, 77, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born on July 15, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Jesse E. and Mary A. "Adalyne" Uhrick. She married Dennis Steele on December 31, 1971, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and that marriage later ended in divorce. On June 22, 1991, she married Francis P. "Butch" Miller in Hicksville, Ohio, and together they recently celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. Ruth was co-owner and cook at her family's restaurant, MERL'S, in Antwerp, Ohio, until retiring due to health reasons. Earlier in her career, she worked at Dietrich Industries in Hicksville and also delivered motor homes for a business in Angola, Indiana. A devoted member of Antwerp Global Methodist Church, Ruth actively participated in the church's weekly dinners, Bible studies, and Vacation Bible School programs. She was a gifted cook and baker whose family fondly recalled that everything she made was simply delicious. Ruth also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, taking cruises, and spending her winters in Tarpon Springs, Florida, with her sisters and extended family.

Surviving is her husband of 35 years, Butch Miller of Hicksville; five children, Fayette (Tim) Wroblewski of Syracuse, Indiana, Flint Miller of Mooresboro, North Carolina, Eric Miller of Hicksville, Ohio, Dawn (Brian) Birner of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Michael (Jerica) Miller of Defiance, Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Linny Williams of Sherwood, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Delbert Ruch; three sons, Dennis Steele, John Sinclair and Mark Sinclair; two sisters, Mary McCoy and Eva Elkins; and five brothers, Norm, Jesse, Roy, Bryce and Bill Elkins.

Visitation for Ruth Miller will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville. Funeral Services will immediately follow in the funeral home beginning at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Rick Neville officiating. In accordance with Ruth's wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no cemetery burial.
