Ruth L. Wendling, 91 years, of Sherwood, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan.Ruth was born on January 11, 1920 in Paulding, Ohio.She was the daughter of the late Dr. William "Doc" and Madge I. (Crawford) Sellers.Ruth was a 1937 graduate of Paulding High School.She then attended International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana.She married Albert J. Wendling on December 3, 1949 in Centerville, Michigan and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1992.Ruth worked for the Grizzly Corporation in Paulding.Following her marriage to Albert, Ruth became a devoted homemaker, caring for her family.She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood and the Ladies Aide group at church.She was a former volunteer for the Defiance County Red Cross and also delivered Meals On Wheels when she was able.Ruth was an avid reader and she thoroughly enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting and other school events. Surviving are her five children, Ann (Don) Hange of Defiance, Barbara (Rod) Knox of Auburn, Indiana, Cathy (Michael) Delaney of Houston, Texas, Charles Wendling of Galesburg, Michigan and William (Holly) Wendling of Sherwood;ten grandchildren, Annette Knox of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jeffrey Hange of Sherwood, Ohio, Matthew Knox of Chicago, Illinois, Andrew Hange of Columbus, Ohio, Jason and Cory Delaney of Houston, Texas, Cassie and Hannah Wendling of Galesburg, Michigan, Ally and Carly Wendling of Sherwood; one sister, Joan (Monte) Hoover of Paulding, Ohio.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert, daughter-in-law, Mary Wendling, and two brothers, Richard and Robert Sellers. Funeral services for Ruth L. Wendling will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church,09088 Openlander Road, Sherwood with Pastor Mark DeLassus officiating.Interment will follow in Sherwood Cemetery.Visitation for Ruth will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood.Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
