Sarah L. Bowers, 77, of Sherwood, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance, Ohio. Sarah was born August 17, 1945, in Lima, Ohio, daughter of the late Donald Carlisle and Lucile Rachele (Smith) Dawson, Sr. Sarah was a 1963 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School. She married Wayne J. Bowers in 1967 at Russells Point, Ohio, and he survives. Sarah was a member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church -The Bend, Sherwood. She was a homemaker, supporting the needs of her family, and previously worked as a waitress at Pickering's Restaurant. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, baking, canning, and cooking, especially chicken and noodles and chocolate cakes.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Wayne J. Bowers of Sherwood; one son, Alan (Kimberly) Bowers of Hicksville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jacob (Andriena) Bowers of Montpelier, Ohio, Riley Bowers of Hicksville, Ohio, and Gabriel Bowers of Hicksville, Ohio; three brothers, Marion Dawson of Lima, Ohio, James Michael Dawson of Columbus Grove, Ohio, and Jonathan Dawson of Marysville, Ohio; and five sisters, Betty Morris of Lima, Ohio, Ruth Joan (Bruce) Wren of Columbus, Ohio, Margaret (James) Day of Ohio City, Ohio, Beverly McDonald of Huntsville, Ohio, and Cathleen Ruck of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Donald Dawson, Jr., Thomas Dawson, and Philip Dawson.
Visitation for Sarah L. Bowers will be held Monday, November 14, 2022, from 10:00 a.m.– 11:30 a.m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 12:00 noon at St. Isidore Catholic Church – The Bend, 16428 Speaker Road, Delaware Bend, with Father Melwin D'Souza officiating. Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Catholic Cemetery.
Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may make them to Fort Defiance Humane Society or St. Isidore Catholic Church.
