Steven Eugene Spangler, age 71, formerly of Ney, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 23, 2026, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo.  Steven was born September 7, 1954, in Defiance, son of the late Robert and Betty (Steel) Spangler.  He was a 1973 graduate of Fairview High School. Steven worked as a roofer with McDonald's Construction for 10 years and previously worked as driver for Defiance Beverage for over 17 years. He was a member of the Defiance Fish & Game Club, and a former member of the Sherwood VFW Post 5665 and Pheasants Forever.  Steven was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.  In his younger years, he also played in various softball leagues.

Surviving is his daughter, Stephanie (Angel) Perez of Sherwood, Ohio; two grandchildren, Noah Gibbs of Waterville, Ohio and Amaya Perez of Sherwood, Ohio; two brothers, Rick (Pamela) Spangler of Bryan, Ohio, Brian (Sherril) Spangler of Brookville, Ohio; sister, Bobbi Spangler of Defiance, Ohio. Steven was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly Spangler Ross; two brothers, David Spangler and Thomas Spangler.

Steven's family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Sherwood VFW Post 5665, 115 Cedar Street, Sherwood, Ohio. Private burial will take place in Sherwood Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio 43556.
