Ted E. Durre, 86, of Hamilton, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 11, 2024, in his Hamilton Lake cottage.  Ted was born August 16, 1937, in Hicksville, Ohio, son of the late Edward E. and Edith M. (Yearling) Durre.  He was a 1955 graduate of Hicksville High School.  Ted married Janet J. Hurley on November 30, 1958, in Grace United Methodist Church in Hicksville, and she survives.  He was a life-long farmer, and in retirement worked as a Crop Insurance Adjuster.  Ted was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville.  He was also a member of the Hicksville Eagles Aerie 2556, Hicksville Kiwanis, Defiance County Fair Board, Community Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, and served several terms as a Hicksville Township Trustee.  In his free time, Ted enjoyed golfing, wintering in Eustis, Florida with his wife, working in the yard, tinkering at the farm, and living at the lake.

Surviving is his wife, Janet Durre of Hamilton, Indiana; two sons, Dennis (Annette) Durre of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Stanley (Lori) Durre of Hicksville, Ohio; and one granddaughter, Hannah Sinclair-Mackling.  Ted was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Durre; and two sisters, Carole McDonald and Linda Towsley.

Visitation for Ted E. Durre will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526.  Funeral services for Ted will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in the funeral home with Celebrant Patricia Peter officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery.
