William P. “Bill” Volkert, 63, formerly of Hicksville, Ohio, and Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 26, 2026, in North Webster, Indiana. Bill was born on June 25, 1962, in Hicksville, son of the late Gene P. and Roxanna F. (Kuhl) Volkert. After graduating from Hicksville High School in 1980, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a fuel specialist until his honorable discharge on August 30, 1983. As an adult, Bill went back to school and earned an Associates degree in Machining from Ivy Tech. Bill worked as a Machinist at Zimmer Biomet in Warsaw for over 22 years, retiring in 2022. He married Tina M. Morhart on August 10, 2019, in Fort Wayne, and she preceded him in death on October 14, 2020.
Bill was a hard worker, and when off the clock, enjoyed relaxing and taking in the world around him. His favorite pastime was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He also loved traveling with Tina, which was something no one else could get him to do. And above all, Bill’s world revolved around his beloved daughter Kalli.
Surviving is his daughter, Kalli (Taylor Patrick) Volkert of North Webster, Indiana; two sons, Dustin (Tamanda) Keesbury of Hicksville, and Joshua Volkert of Kokomo, Indiana; two stepsons, Dylan Beghtel of Fort Wayne, Jordan Walborn of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren, Roman, Waylon, Serenity, Maverik, Jett, Elias and Kinzington; two great-grandchildren, Luka and Javon; two sisters, Alice Volkert of Dallas, Texas, and Beth (Joe) Hughes of Antwerp, Ohio; and by three nieces, Sarah Noethen, Ally Noethen and Ace Volkert. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Tina Volkert.
Visitation for William P. “Bill” Volkert will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 Noon at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526. Funeral Services will immediately follow in the funeral home beginning at 12:00 Noon with Minister Alex Heffelfinger officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, where Military Rites will be accorded by the combined honor detail from the Hicksville American Legion Post 223, Farmer American Legion Post 137, and Sherwood VFW Post 5665. In tribute to Bill, the family welcomes attendees to wear their Harley-Davidson attire.
