Succumbing to Alzheimer's, Ella Marie Miller, "Marie" passed away on April 13, 2012. Since 2002 she had been a resident of The Laurels of Dekalb in Butler, Indiana.
Marie was born on July 11, 1927, in St. Joseph, Michigan, to Sylvanus and Sylvia (Miller) Yoder. In 1949, she was united in marriage to Leander R. Miller in Hicksville, Ohio. They raised their children and farmed northeast of Hicksville. Marie lived in Sarasota, Florida from 1975 until 2001, where she enjoyed a fellowship with her Brothers and Sisters in Christ at The Tabernacle church. Marie was a natural caregiver for her family and friends, and had boundless energy with a "can do" attitude.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, James Franklin Sr.
She leaves son Laverne and wife Ida Miller, Hicksville, OH, and daughter Linda Franklin, Sarasota, FL; sister Fannie Mae (John Henry) Yoder, Plain City, OH; bother Ray (Bonnie) Yoder, Sturgis, MI; grandsons Jethro (Sharla) Miller, Abbeville, SC and Jordan Miller, Hicksville, granddaughters Janith Miller, Plain City, OH, and Jalane Miller, Hicksville; step-grandsons James Jr., Joseph and Freddie Franklin, Sarasota, FL; great-granddaughters Mia and Kylie Miller, Abbeville, SC, step-great-granddaughter Melanie Franklin, Sarasota, FL and three step-great-great grandchildren. Her nephews Nathan (Janae) Yoder, Plain City, OH, Robin (Stacy) Yoder, Port Huron, MI, Joshua Yoder, Pensacola, FL and Tyler Yoder, Sturgis, MI always held a special place in her heart.
Funeral service for Marie will be Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at Hicksville Christian Fellowship, 3672 Buckskin Rd, Hicksville, Ohio. Visitation will be Monday April 16 from 3:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio.
