Eugenia M. Poynter, 87 years, of Bryan, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Bryan Care & Rehabilitation Center, Bryan where she had been a resident.Eugenia was born March 30, 1922 in Bryan, Ohio.She was the daughter of J. Paul and Ruth L. (Stipe) Critchfield.Eugenia was a 1939 graduate of Bryan High School.She married Robert D. Poynter on June 14, 1942 in Bryan, and he preceded her in death on November 6, 1978.She began her career as a secretary at the ARO Corp where she worked for 10 years, the last 3 as a bookkeeper.She then worked with her husband at their company, Poynter Plumbing and Heating as bookkeeper and Treasurer until her retirement in 1996.She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, where she served as President for several years and also as Financial Secretary; the Peace Circle at Church and various other church committees.Eugenia was also active in the Taine Club, the Bryan Lioness Club, Bryan Area Foundation, where she served as trustee, Women of the Moose;Claire Newcomer Club where she was a charter member; Bryan Civic League and she had served as Chairman of the Blood Bank. Surviving is her daughter, Linda (Ron) Jinks of Bryan; granddaughter Lauren (Steve) Walawender of Carmel, Indiana; grandson, Ryan (Karen) Jinks of Bryan; five great-grandchildren, Megan and Allison Walawender, Ashlyn, Gabby and Milo. Funeral services for Eugenia M. Poynter will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Dwight Bowers, officiating.Interment will follow at Shiffler Cemetery, rural Bryan.Visitation for Mrs. Poynter will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2010 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.Friends may also visit one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Memorials in the name of Eugenia M. Poynter may be given to the Robert and Eugenia Poynter Trust care of the Bryan Area Foundation or to Wesley United Methodist Church.
